Michael Morley

Michael Ferris Morley
10/30/63 - 1/7/16

Mike passed away after a valiant fight with cancer on January 7, 2016 in Salt Lake City. He was a hard worker, devoted father and loving husband who loved the gospel.

Mike was born on October 30, 1963 to Idonna Thomas and Ferris R. Morley. Mike and his three siblings, Barbara, David and Dianne, grew up in Provo. He graduated in 1982 from Timpview High School where his life-long interest in cars and mechanics began. Mike attended Utah Technical College where he completed certification in auto mechanics. Mike was a highly skilled and knowledgeable mechanic, earning recognition throughout his career for achieving high production. He dedicated the past 28 years to Larry Miller Lexus where he worked as a Masters Level Certified Technician. His managers and peers could always count on Mike to get the job done, and get it done right.

The highlight of Mike’s career was the four years he spent building and racing Mustang race cars at the Miller Motor Sports Park. Mike was asked by Larry Miller to travel to Le Mans, France to serve as crew chief for a vintage Cobra that raced in the Le Mans Classic.

Mike married Mary Ann Olson, of Provo, on July 19, 1986 and they were sealed in the Provo Temple. They moved to Sandy in 1992 where they raised their three wonderful children, Weston, Alyson and Connor. Mike loved watching his children participate in football, lacrosse and dance.

Mike was an avid mountain biker who was known to take his bike everywhere to explore the trails of the beautiful Utah mountains. He was passionate about anything and everything NASCAR and enjoyed traveling to watch races. He enjoyed mentoring youth through scouting and the Young Men’s organization. He will be remembered for his quick wit and dry humor.

The family wishes to thank the many people at the Huntsman Cancer Institute who helped with Mike’s care. A heartfelt thank you, as well, to all the family, friends, ward members, coworkers and the Larry Miller Group who have served and supported Mike and his family during this difficult time.

The funeral will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT on Wednesday, January 13 at 2:00 pm. with a viewing 2 hours prior to the funeral.
