Since there is no obituary on him, I just wanted to post so the rest of you could know one classmate's remembrance of him. I didn't know him really well, but Doug was in my drama class and he made me laugh hard. I thought he was so interesting and such a kindhearted person. I was so sad to hear of his passing, I believe just shortly after his mission.

Doug and I were pals all through high school.  I worked with his older sister at Hammond Toy in the University Mall when I was 14.  He would come into the store to see his sister and so we became friends.  He often came over to my house to hang out.  Doug was super funny, kind, clever and soft spoken.  He was also a skilled craftsman.  I still own a highly engraved traditional powder horn he gifted me.    He also made many elaborately carved / inlaid guitar necks, using, shells, mother of pearl and silver.

When I returned from my mission he would stop by the house, but his visits became fewer and fewer.  I am I last saw Doug sometime in the fall of 95.  I was sad when I heard sometime after his passing of his death.

I know Doug suffered with some troubling emotional problems, but I remember him as a great friend and a kind person.
